2003 E60 Hard Gear Jerks / Transmission Fault
Hello All,
Looking for a bit of guidance here (pls) and if anyone else has had the same issue. I've read a few similar issues but nothing concrete for a solution.
Had my E60 for around 9 years now and it has served me well. However, found a leak on the transmission pan last month, and as I had planned a long drive getaway a few weeks later, I planned to get this fixed as soon as possible.
So I managed to get the parts and ask my mechanic to complete as I couldn't jack the car high enough myself. The following was replaced:
transmission pan filter,
oil - ZF Lifegaurd,
new pan screws,
megatronic sleeve x1,
valve body adaptor x1
and the valve body sleeves x4.
Now I have the above completed, I've been driving around the last week or so and 2 things are causing concern, just to add, I've done around 400miles since the work.
1 - when I come to a stop, the downshift in gears it jerks hard, more so downshifting from 3rd to 2nd
2 - when at 60/70mph (or abouts) or when I decide to put my foot down the dreaded 'transmission fault' message appears and the car goes into limp mode (3rd gear I believe)
With the work carried out, would I need to replace the solenoids in the megatronic (6HP19) unit to clear this up? or could it be something far worse?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Lastly, I am taking my car to the mechanic this week to plug in to check fault codes as well.
There's an extensive thread in the how to section that will give you a lot more info. I forget what it's called now but it will definitely point you in the right direction.

Ok seanjordan, thanks. Thought there might be something like this but couldn't find anything. Will keep searching, but if anyone stumbles upon it, please share. Thanks
