Hey, do any of you guys know if the signal coming out of the factory headunit is processed before or after it reaches the factory amp? on a standard us spec system.

Before. Amp is just used to boost the signal for the subs.

Does this mean you can tap into those wires and put RCA ends on them and usa a cable to connect that to the amp? I am trying to not use a line level converter if possible.

I think they use a balanced setup, which is logical in an electrically noisy environment like a car.

My E39 had a balanced set up but people we tapping into them. I did it aswell. The trick was to use an amp that can handle an input signal greater then 6 volts i think.

Does any one have a complete pinout of of the amp in the trunk?

thanks again

A simple op amp circuit should be able to deal with the balanced signal and get the output to exactly where you need it.

I am pretty unfamiliar with building this type of circuit. Has anyone done this before? could make a little money selling this.
