What you guys think? Better to replace my shadow line trims with M5 shadow trim or powder coat them... which will last longer?

Found a local powder coating company that quoted $70 for gloss black powder coating. Thought that was a great price and compared to the shadow trim which is only flat black $200+. I will post pics if I end up going with the powder coating.

This DIY instruction for shadow trim upgrade is great. I followed the advise from OP. It was very easy and straightforward. Took about an hour to finish. Dealer wants $640 for parts and labor. So I ordered the parts from Garry and did the installation myself. And save $400+. More $$ for other mods!

I will post some pictures later after the Hartge splitter and trunk finisher are painted and installed.

Contacted Garry at BMWofNewport, 25% discount, he quoted $188.18 for all 8 parts. With approx. $20 shipping. I think it is a fair price.

I'm about to perform this mod tomorrow.

Can anyone who has already done it provide any helpful tips beyond what was posted in this thread?

Where exactly on the clips should I hammer in order to get the old chrome trim off?

thanks

I just did this today using the OP's DIY and a couple of tips from FlyingPuck. Just wanted something new for spring. Ordered the kit from Garry on Monday afternoon, and it arrived this morning (Friday). $239 w/ shipping. Probably took 1 1/2 - 2 hours, but I went really slowly and cleaned all the rubber and behind the trim as I went. New pic in sig. I never would have attempted something like this w/o the DIY write up. This is why I love this forum!

I just called my local dealer in Mississauga Ontario Canada (Near Toronto) Mississauga BMW and they want almost $550 just for the parts no labor! Does anyone ship this trim to Canada and what about aftermarket?
