I've done this myself. It's not easy. You will need to compress the spring in order to move the assembly up the strut. Otherwise it will not come off because it's a tight fit. I can post the TIS. Also, I replace the entire arm on both sides only to have to replace the one on the right again. The bushings were not the OEM Lemforder bushings and the glue started to come out. So I just bought a press from Harbor Freight for $60 and pressed out and in. The OEM Bushing was a lot more "compact" and is able to absorb more shock....basically the insert was a bit different, more heavy duty. If you get an aftermarket just make sure it is comparable to the actual OEM or better and save yourself some time not just $.

IT's a tedious task if you're not a handy guy. If you are and have to learn as you go...it's also a tedious task. I'll try to get the TIS for you as soon as I can.

That PDF is not for the E60. The E60 ball joint is upside down on the car. This is why you have to compress the spring.

Thanks for the input. This is actually for the E60 but it's for the inner control arm.

I've done some hoewrok on this and I know that space is an issue with the OEM struts but luckily I have KSport coilovers which take up a lot less space below the collar on the hub. I have more than ample room to take the arms out without pushing the strut up.

I am getting the after market ones which come with life time warranty so I don't think I need to worry about spending more money down the road it they should fail. Just more time. I just wish I had a string impact gun so that I can save some time on install. One that I have doesn't generate enough torque for really stubborn ones like this one.

BMW doesn't call part #11 a controller arm. I assumed that's what you were referring to because you were talking about replaceing the bushings only vs. getting the entire until with a new ball joint. The actual controller arm is part #16 on the diagram above and from what I was told comes as an entire piece, no bushing sold separately.

Here's the link to the manufacturer. They are in CT so I am really hoping that these are made in the USA rather than imported from China.

The lifetime warranty disclaimer is in the middle under the additional notes. I may forego the install by ASE cert tech, to save $$$. We'll see.

Thanks for the link.

Is there any polyurethane bushing replacement kit for E60?
I saw a lot of them for E39

I need to get this done. Anyone can help a brother out before I take it to a shop?

Hmmm.. After looking at this post on E39 M5 board, I wonder if that part #11 has the same bushing as E39 Powerlex replacement:
