My Ride: 2008 535xi
I just did my first oil change in my 2007 550i. Everything went smoothley and I finished the service in about 45 min. I have been on a few forums and have tried what most people say I need to do to reset the computer I.E. Holding Odometer reset button for 10 seconds and reseting it that way. Well, when I hit the reset button it shows the caution triangle but as soon as I realease the button the triangle goes away. I even held the button down for around 20 seconds and as said on the forum a bunch of German gibberish comes up and I just ended up taking the key out. I am wondering if the procedure is different for me because I have a Key Fob as apposed to a regular key. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. My car is still under warrenty so if the computer is not working the way it is suppopsed to, I am pretty sure I can take it in to get checked out.

Basically I followed this procedure (see post #3):

To get the ignition set to on, place the key in the ignition, and press the start button, without having your foot on the brake.
Having comfort access, I used the key in the ignition anyway... Did this a while back for my microfilter, so here's what happened IIRC:
Put key in hole.
Pressed trip reset to clear the trip meter.
Removed key.
Replaced key.
*Push start button without foot on the brake.
The car does everything but start.
Hold reset key until service light illuminates. Release reset button and press again.
Press the reset button to Cycle through the service icons.
