My E60 is same as your's except it's a 530i but wasn't able to play mp3 before but now with the update it does. Good luck.

I have 520d with business CD . no satnav or cd changer . it doesnt play MP3.
this BMW bulletin only mentions about CCC units with navigation ..does it also include M-ASK unit or Business CD player for a free mp3 retrofit.
please advise if someone manged to get it for free from dealer

The best ficticious 'symptoms' I've found that would convince the dealer to do this is that the Idrive keeps freezing and runs slows, this usually results in them updating the softare, including the MP3 function free. I haven't done this myself yet, but plan to do this soon.
Generally, folks don;t recommend updating the Idrive software if there is nothing wrong as it can then malfunction or take a couple of visits to get right. But there's not other way to get MP3 enabled.
Unfortunately, the free MP3 softare update buletin, that requires the dealer to update MP3 software for free in the US is not valid in the UK and so far as I cannot find a similar buletin for the UK. I heard some dealers will negotiate on price for just hte MP3 flash software update, which is not a full Idrive softare update.
I already bought and installed my Ipod kit, but doesn't work on my 08 model with CD-changer, bus-nav, so like I said I am in the same position. If you find a 'free' fix let me know. In the meantime I have $300 piece of Ipod kit crap in my car that does nothing.

the mp3 update is not generally included in the idrive update do you have to be sure to tell them if they could include that while they did the idrive update and then they still might charge you since you are requesting something else to be added on

The bulletin says though that it is only for 5sereis with Nav and prodution after 09/2005. Mine has no Nav and production is probably before 09/2005. Any options for MP3 cd playback? Thanks!
