Hi Guys, Just finished the install in my E61 08MY thanks to this excellent knowledge-base. It had CD changer prep but no nav. It plays the MP3 cds fine but doesn't recognise the ipod - in the end of the instructions it does say the kit DOES need coding so unless there is any Reboot / Restart that I've missed to let it start working it looks like a trip to the dealers... doh! so close & yet...

Any thoughts on the reboot before I make the call?

Thanks again Bushman (Noob)

If you only have the CD-Changer prep you need to get the CD-Changer option enabled before it will work. Might also need some additional programming since you don't have CCC.

Thanks schulrog, is there a "VAGCOM" equivalent for Bimmers to allow mere mortals to get constuctive with the coding?
Having carried out numerous upgrades for SATNAV, Bluetooth, DIS etc in Audi / VW cars the Bimmer is looking a whole lot less user friendly or have I just not found the necessary key to unlock this potential? I do fancy adding Nav to complete the package but the local UK dealers say it can't be done!

Thanks again.

My front CD player doesn't play MP3, so the Ipod interface doesn't work. Anybody knows how to upgrade the frontloader CD player to MP3 compatible or other ways to get the interface working? BMW as always want to do a software update....

Ok, I'm stuck here. Can anyone help me out? Below are my pics to show you where I am in my install. I found the loop, but dont know where to go from there. I only see 1 green cord and when I look at page 3, there are two cords. How do I unhook the box in the loop and where do I go from there? Many Thanks

you disconnect the wires at the connection point in the black connector (red circle), which will reveal 2 endpoints. those go into a connector that comes with the iPod interface and then gets plugged into the big connector. Make sense?

Quick question guys, i have a 2006 550i and it did not come with a factory cd changer. when i look for the wire shown in the your pictures it looked different, instead of 4 wires it only has 2. I think maybe becasue the car did not come with the cd changer they didn't run the power or audio cables? could this be so?

i think the 2 wires your are talking about are for the power to the plug that is used for the ipod and cd-changer. the audio is via a fiber optic cable.

The red/orange are the power, the adaptor will be wrapped up in the black tape. The green wire is the fiber optic. Unravel that tape and you'll see it.
