Hi Roger,

I have a July 06 Build with No Nav and No CDC.
I've just been out and checked in the glove box, there is a conector there with 2 wires going to it, one Brown & one Red. The 2 round holes in the connector are empty. Does this mean my car wasn't wired up for a CDC or am I missing something? Should there be a Fibre Optic cable somewhere behind there?

Thanks for any help
check out page 3 of this thread same exact setup as you have. Your car is pre-wired.

I spent a while looking at "Buddy"s post on this but couldn't come to a conclusion as he has 2 adaptors, whereas I have one. His 2nd adaptor looks like it was housing the fibre optic cable and it's not really clear how he eventually gets it to work.
I think I'll have another look around tomorow in the light and let you know my findings!

Thanks

Ohh ok.
So....If I have the connector, in which I can see no fiber optic cable and no red glow, it will still work?

you do have the connector and you do have the fiber optic.. it just doesn't glow because you also didn't have the factory CD-Changer. This means that you will have to get the CD-Changer option enabled by BMW. does your center console CD-Player play mp3 cds?

If not, you can go to your BMW dealer and ask them to do the mp3 retrofit for free and see if they would add the CD-Changer enable option as well. it takes them the same amount of time to do it.

If yes, then you'll have to get the CD-Changer option enabled for around 250-300 depending on the stealer

Roger, you are a legend.
Thanks for putting up with my questions, I'll let you know how I get on

(PS - My CD player does not support MP3 at the moment so I will need to get that enabled as well as the CD Changer enabled)

hehe no problem.. just trying to help out.. did I mention I sell the iPod interface @ www.aftermarketbulbsshop.com You can download the mp3 bulletin there as well that will allow you to get the mp3 done for free.

PERFECT! if you don't have mp3 already go to your dealer and ask them to do mp3 retrofit and CD-Changer enable together. Then both should be free. They might argue for a little and tell you some story but tell them this: I know that the time required for the mp3 retrofit AND CD-Changer enable programming is the same. So could you please do both at the same time for free.

I'll be buying from you if all is well and you ship to the UK
Also, as I dont have the wiring for the CDC (Which is an extra option on your website), Can i have the CDC enabled without this, or do I need to install this part before BMW can enable the CDC?

Thanks

I do ship international

Are you sure you don't have the CD-Changer pre-wiring? PM me the last 7 of your VIN and I'll check that for you.

Excellent
I'll let you know the VIN when I get in from work.
EDIT: Plus I'll have a proper look at the wiring in the daylight.
