2. Be careful that there may be TWO empty slots (if you have an E61). The wire needs to go in the socket marked with #39

Yes, YW25C is the same thing.
If you need the housing to go into the switch, then BX97F is the three-way one.
If you need the housing to go into the switch, then BX97F is the three-way one.

No, the switch will undo the boot at any time, ignition on/off, central locking on/off.
I suppose there is a security issue here in that someone could break the window and reach down to pop the boot (OK, the alarm would go off). I haven't tried sitting in the car until it "goes to sleep" and tried the button then!! That is assuming the person knew about the boot switch as its not visible from outside and is unobtrusive even with the door open.

Once the car is locked from the outside (no need for it to go to sleep; just open a front window and lock it, preferably deactivating the alarm), the switch is disabled. If someone starts breaking glass, they may as well go for the rear window and loot everything out of it anyway :'(
