AFAIK that is still the case in the US, and no-one could tell me why, not even repeated phone calls to BMWNA. Basically you can not order the Cold weather package here in the US with the ventilated seats.
I feel like i can get by until my lease is up, and then we will be alittle wiser.

Yes, I do have the steering wheel that is used for SMG, but without SMG, so without paddles. I simply have the sports steering wheel with heating.
But isn't it possible to fit them on this steering wheel?

Hobi are you any nearer to making your wiring loom for steptronic paddle shift available commercially either by itself or as part of a full kit for the e60? Are you still planning to market this via Thorney motorsport ? (correct name??).

The thing that has held everything up is my filming and editing sessions in the US/Canada. I was here for 2 weeks on a shoot, then I had to go back to the UK, then come back for another week because the original 2 weeks, the weather was crap! I love the US and Canada, but I want to get back and finish my car ... !!!! There are several forum members and others waiting for me to release the mod.
Right now, I have 2 sets of M5 shift levers and wiring loom adapter, for 2 people in the US. These are ready to go. I have also opened up a Fedex account to handle the shipping etc.. I need to test the procedure by doing a dummy run to the US, and CRRobert is going to help me out on this, as soon as I can get back home...... "Please GOD, let me finish here, so that I can go back..."
Are you able to come to Belgium on Sunday???
In case you want to talk on the phone, I'm going to PM you my number now. Please remember that currently, I am 8 hours behind UK time!!!
All the Best

I'm interested in the mod too! I have a SMG 545i. How hard is the installation to do yourself? And what is the cost? PM me if you could please. Thanks!

Hi Ruf930
The basic requirement for the mod are M5 levers, wiring loom and adapter, steering column slip ring and either a sports SMG wheel or the M5 steering wheel.
I think your car is steptronic? Does it have the standard hexagonal airbag or the round airbag?
If hexagon and standard wheel, you need to buy a whole new airbag !
The mod will work on any year E60, touring, 6 series coupe and cabrio.
All the Best

Hi Flavio
That's exactly what I did - I used the existing multi-function buttons and plastic trim from the old 'M' Sports wheel, since the basic shape of the old and new wheels were the same.
As you will have seen from a previous post, I have not been able to test this mod on a car with steering wheel heating - in fact, I don't recall it even being an option for UK spec cars. So, until I get to see Iceman's car or other, I can't be certain that this mod will work in all cases. Watch this space! I've been in touch with Iceman and we'll be meeting up in the very near future.

I normally go towards Koln and then Aachen, Liege, Brussels.... Yeah, I got no problem going to Maastrict - I'll let you know exactly when I'll be travelling. I looked at your pics of your car - great!
All the Best
