Potentially, any E60/61/63/64 !!! (A friend of mine has a 530 Touring - which I'll modify when I get back to the UK)

All the Best

Hi All

I apologise for having been AWAY from this forum since Xmas 2004!? Things have been extremely busy for me with work etc..? I have not really had enough time to stay in one place for long enough to tinker with my car.

HOWEVER...

In the images below, you will see that I have successfully retrofitted the OFFICIAL E60 M5 steering wheel to my 545 Steptronic - WITH FULLY OPERATIONAL PADDLE SHIFT LEVERS. As far as I am aware, I also have the first M5 steering wheel in the UK (so Cooper Banstead tells me...)

Some people were saying that this could not be done.........

Nice job. However, in your website, you didn't show all the steps (with photos) to dissemble the "old" steering wheel, to install the new control and assembly of the new steering wheel.

Since you are trying to share your modification with others, why don't you included the detail instruction in your website ? If you could do that, most of the brimmer owners will benefit from that and can do the installation themselves by following your procedures. Otherwise, only you have this modification, nobody else

As I have said in a previous post on page 2 of this topic, I need to verify a few issues concerning steering wheel heating. I cannot do this without Iceman's help and as soon as I am able to meet up with him and look at the internals of the steering wheel heating thing, will I be able to fully determine the scope of this mod. This meeting will take place as soon as I have received some extra M5 paddles.

I don't have a heated steering wheel and I think most people don't either. I just would like to know how you have made the connections between the paddles/ECU box in the steering wheel and the Steptronic gearlever. Is it a custom made cable loom?

Hobi,

I am in Boston, USA. My steering wheel is heated which is part of the cold weather package.

Yes it is custom made wiring loom with switching interface box.

Which countries have the steering wheel heating option then? the obvious ones are finland, norway etc.. i suppose.
