DIY maintenance for the DPF...

I give a little feedback. I dismounted my dpf again (washed it 2 weeks ago and it went clooged again, look my ealier post) and a little water came out. I assume I didn't dry it enough and that's why it got clogged too fast again. Anyway, this time I cleaned it only with pressure air and brake cleaner and a lot of soot came out. After that I drilled one d=10mm hole trough the dpf, refitted it and to the test drive. Started regeneration with DIS and drove approximately 40 min @ 100km/h. Regen last more than 20min and after that backpressure at idle speed was 4mbar.
In the moment everything works perfect. If before hole drilling the inner surface of the exhaust pipes on the back were clean as in petrol engine, then this time they look like as common diesel engine. However, the rear of the car is not smutty and when I accelerate it dosen't smut.

I don't think the water left in the DPF would cause anything, as it will evaporate very soon after starting the engine.
Good to know your car doesn't smoke after drilling the hole. Makes me thinking...

I take it you soak the dpf in solvent on the engine side, then flush through from the tailpipe side?
Thats me got both my thermos changed, big difference in engine temp now (90 instead of 79/82).

Ok.
Went to a garage tonight:
- arrived at 4:30pm
- DPF was unmounted at 4:50pm
- DPF was washed ,rinsed and drip dried at 6:30pm (lots of soot and stuff came out)
- DPF was back installed at 6:45pm
- started the DIS at 7:00pm and regeneration started immediately when temps rised over 75°C

I'm new to DIS and I'm not sure what you mean by "reseting". Anyway, only thing I did was clearing the errors.

Well....
started removing the dpf today, what a bloody ballache! You have to remove the complete exhaust as stated in TIS and the all the underguards and the alloy reinforcement plate. Once that done 'JUST' disconnect sensor wires and a bracket and remove the dpf...NOT! TIS shows a picture of a left hand drive car which is fine..dpf will come out, but steering components get in the way on right hand drive cars!
I'm off for round 2 with the b*****d....

And a struggle it was!
In the end i had to undo the steering rack retaining bolts and move the rack over to the right to gain just enough clearance for the dpf to drop out. Once you remove the pinch bolt from the steering spindle, it pushes right back up into the bulkhead.
Tight for room!
