nice write up!
how can you reset the oil service due indicator on the idrive?
The dealer wants to charge me 75 bucks for the standard scope . I guess the standard scope is to reset all the things needed to be done for service , is there anyway to do this on your own?
thanks

No I don't think so, when the 'oil service required' message comes up merely changing the oil will not reset the interval....... that, I am sure requires some sort deliberate electronic reset at the dealer.
Quick question, My car has been parked for the winter and I was planning on doing a oil change. Should I start and let the enigne warm up and do the oil change or just do the oil change and then start the car up so the oil that has been sitting around wont go back into the engine? I read the DIY and this sort of confused me.

I live in Belgium (Europe) and have a 525i 2008 (facelift model) because we are used to use liters I added 6.5 liters as there stands in the manual. But I only see 2 blocks on the oil level indicator on the idrive it is green and it says ok, but shouldn't there be 4 blocks?
Could someone confirm that there should be 6,5 liters engine oil in the N53B30A ??

Before starting a new topic i will ask it first here.
I'm trying to reset the mileage from the idrive,
Normaly steps are
Put key in don't start engine
Scroll to date
Odo 000
Push odostick 10 seconds and hold it. Normally you should enter maintenance settings.
But with my car i get after a couple seconds an yellow triangle with explanation mark and then after about 10 seconds I can scroll through vehicle number, production date or something simular
Any suggestions

Just changed my oil today. Very easy, used Mobil 1 0w40 grade. Didn't even have to jack my car up. Wanted to let you guys know about this wrench I got from advance auto, fit the oil cap perfectly, and was only $6.20 with tax. Tried using a slip wrench, but my cap was on very tight, so didn't work for me. The Lisle wrench did however. Called my local store and they ordered it, took a few days for them to get it. It is a Lisle part number 58350. It is a 86mm, 16 flute oil cap wrench. Here is the link on the website:
