Basically NCS can either read the profile from the car or you load a pre-defined .ssd profile file (with any VO combination you want).
Ok Bruce, whats the procedure for making and using an .ssd file in NCS?.

Not sure if all E60s are the same when it comes to the fuel reserve, but this is what happens in mine:

- Range around 50ish miles (depending on driving style), fuel warning light comes on briefly then disappears.
- Range at 31 miles exactly, fuel warning light comes on and stays on, iDrive shows the range along the status bar at the bottom.

What i'm wondering is if there is a parameter somewhere that can change at how many miles the fuel light stays on permanently (i.e. the 31 miles value)?

Couple of quick questions...

1. I see some options say need LM2 or LMA2, is there a way to tell if we have these? Or will these options not be available once connected with the cable?

2. Is there a way to clear codes/reset service reminders with this cable and some software? Would be nice not having to take it in to clear a code if we are making modifications.

Thanks!

My 2004 E60 has ISTA/P 40.3, updated Feb 18, 2011.

Software on computer:
INPA 4.4.7
EDIABAS 6.4.3
NCSEXPER 3.0.8

Using INPA, I am able to read battery and ignition states, and read error memory and status of various modules, e.g DVD-CCC, Active Roll Stabilization.

In NCSExper, F1 reads the vehicle VIN. F3 brings up "CAS, LMA". I select CAS and receive an error about $6UB being an invalid FA option. However, ISTA/P v40 E60 daten files (*.000) are already copied to:
C:\NCSEXPER\DATEN\
C:\NCSEXPER\DATEN\E60\
and in the file E60AT.000 I see the line:
W 6UB //VORBEREITUNG (HIGH-)SPRACHVERARBEITUNG (vgl. SA620!)

How to correct this please?

SA6UB is preparation for voice input, thats nothing to do with the files you have installed.

Has your car got voice input?. Im unsure why it`s throwing up an error for that FA number, you could always remove it from your vehicle order.

I have voice input. I haven't been able to get NCSEXPER running yet, so I don't know what my full FA string looks like yet.

If you have full voice input the correct FA for it is SA620 ($620).

I have voice input button on my i-drive controller and steering wheel, and voice input can make entertainment, climate, navigation selections. My original factory build sheet shows:

0ZCW Cold Weather Package
0ZSP Sport Package
0441 Smoker's package
0522 Xenon headlights
06UB Voice Activation Preparation
0609 Navigation system
0694 CD changer preparation
0785 White turn-signal lights
0818 Battery switch
0ZFA First aid kit
0403 Moonroof
0459 Power front seats
0524 Adaptive light control
0605 BMW Assist software
0639 BMW Assist
0697 DVD Area coding, North America
08SP CO2 control
0925 Shipping package

BMW Center retrofit and coding include MP3, iPod interface, updated occupant sensor mat, updated driver airbag module/controller, so I don't know what my full FA string looks like now...haven't retrieved it yet.

The original E60AT.000 file did not have 6UB, and the E60AT.000 file from the ISTA/P v40 daten folder did, so I thought updating the *.000 files in NCSEXPER would fix it.

So your car came from the factory with preparation for voice input but no working voice system?, I take it the voice input has been activated at some point?. the FA SA6UB should have been removed and replaced with SA620.
