this may be a dumb question, but when did this become standard equipment in cars? i have an 08 550i (US spec), there wasn't an option for AC, and i'm not sure if i have this already or not?

It became standard from march 2007 only on certain models, it would have been standard on the 550i right from 2003 anyway.

Yesterday I finally got all needed parts together. Today I started the retrofitted.

When I was checken to wires from X18796 (18 pins connecter) I saw a problem.
I am missing 2 cables -> So 2 connectors are not used.

The following connectors are nut used in my panel
13 --------------18 Connector 13 is not Used in my existing panel
16 --------------14 Connector 13 is not Used in my existing panel

I am not sure what the function of the missing connectors are... so I will be missing those also on the AC High.
Anyone had this also?

I assume you have a petrol engine? pin 13 is for the auxiliary water pump, yours might be electric.
Pin 16 is for the diesel engine control module.

@Blood
Thanks for checking. I indeed have petrol.

Today I finalized the retrofit and recoded the car.

But I noticed when I the engine is on, there is a extra sound from the engine compartment.
It sounds like an blower at full speed. It only stops if i switch off the engine.
So.. somewhere something went wrong.
I also got a warning ligth.. Microfilter must me replaced, but a few days ago the microfiler had some 70.000km to go.

When the AC panel is coded correctly in the car.
Does the Idrive screen has to jump to the Climate Control page when one of these buttons (see pic) is pressed?
In the basic panel you could easily switch from airflow to feet to airflow to chest.
In the new panel I have to go to the idrive screen to check where the airflow is currently set.

I recoded the full car but the problem with a fan going to full speed in the engine compartment is still there
