can any one advice me which is the best product to apply to alloy wheels to keep them cleaner for longer. I no I have to be carefull with the tyres so i can't spray the wheels, is there and hand applied product i can safely use.

 

Most BMW wheels are clear coated, just like the car, so you can put a good quality car wax on the wheels.

This keeps them cleaner a bit longer, and makes it a bit easier to clean them ( dirt comes off a bit easier )

Makes them nice and shiny aswell

 

i wouldnt put carnuba wax on wheels....wax melts at high temps. ive heard people had good success by applying a synthetic wax (such as rejex or klasse)...much more durable and longer lasting. though it wont exactly 'repel' brake dust, it does make it MUCH easier to clean the wheels.

 

I don't know of anything that will keep wheels from collecting brake dust or getting dirty. Some things may help just a little, but nothing has ever proved satisfactory for me.

 

I applied some rejex om my wheels yesterday. I'm curious if there will be any difference both on dirt build up and post cleaning.

 

i put rejex on my wheels over a month ago and i washed my car again this past monday. i found out that the wheels were much easier to clean. i love rejex !

 

Actually the carnuba has a melting point of 185-190 F

It is the parafine oils in waxes that melt very quickly.

The key word = sealant.

Sealants can resist way higher temperatures and there I recommend the following (learned this from the guy who details my cars for years now)

The most important thing of good bonding is a good prep of the surface. Wash the wheels and then clayaway dirty particles on the wheels with your claybar & clay lube. Then wash them again to remove any clay residue.

Then, put on some AOI (Klasse All In ONe) and follow the directions on the can. Then repeat with SG (Klasse Sealant Glaze). Both products can be found here

If you want even more protection (and shine) you can top it off with Zaino Z2

All in all this will take some time but trust me this is worth it. Wiping away dirt from your wheels with your sponge was never that easy.
