I wonder what mr.Pratt would do if the bobbies showed up at his door at 3am to inform him that a car registered in his name was used to commit a crime? Mate, my post was mostly tongue and cheek. As a fellow Brit living in the U.S. I too also think the U.S. a little too litigious (this coming from someone in the legal field <_< ) but I still say if that was me I would have reported my car "missing" as a precaution.

500 extra miles on the clock!! So, what? It's not that big a deal.
Suppose that 500 miles happened during the break in period? I believe this car was two weeks old. How now brown cow? <_<

First off what happened was NOT cool.... but I would be more concerned about what happened during the first 500 miles than the last 500 miles. I'm sorry but you bought a used car with almost 8000 miles and are now flipping out over 500 more?

I wouldn't be happy at all about this situation. I would wait to see what the dealer wants to do to compensate you in their way. If they just give you the key and say good luck I would ask for compensation. Maybe a nice keyring or some other goodies from the accesories booklet.

500 miles for a lousy keyring!?!?!

u're too nice Dennis.. haha..

depreciation is at least $.50 USD per mile......... calculated into that stress.. he should get something at least double that......

Overall, i'm not too impressed with the car anyhow. It has a lot of little problems that I don't see ever really being remedied such as all the I-drive glitches, etc. The problems all seem to be the same - sluggish performance when going from a standstill, faulty cupholders, etc., etc. I wish I had read these boards BEFORE I bought the car.
i-drive glitches? what i-drive glitches?

I don't think you can count on too much in the way of compensation but at least they can bend over backwards to make sure all the issues you have with the car are resolved (The exception of course is that if you think your car is underpowered, I guess you should have noticed that during a test drive).

If you have a lemon that someone has traded in, now is your chance to use this as leverage to get a good deal on an 05.

Good luck

a patently ridiculous comment. the car was NOT missing in any sense of the word - only a fool would waste the time of the police for their own selfish purpose

and as for the original poster thinking that the dealership will 'absorb' anything, well think again because that is NOT how it works

Settled for a 500 dollar check and threw in some cleaning products (at my request). The front and back right rims looked like they had been brushed against a curb. Service Manager said he would 'repair' (resurface?) them. Said they'd look like new.

372 miles were put on it.

It was an honest mistake on their part.

Respectable.
