Well don't feel bad. Perillo had my car for 3 days to replace the Tires(per SI update the progman(took 3 tries) and turn on the bluetooth and they were nice enought to give me a Hyundai Accent as a loaner. Nothing like trying to commute in Chicago traffic when you have 130hp tin can compared the a 545. That is pain.

I would highly suggest not to go there. I got my clutch replaced and it took almost a weeks argument with the service person AND the shop foreman. They kept accusing me that I had missused my car while racing, hence needing a clutch replacement. I never race my car.

To avoid non-BMW loaners. Call in advance to your service, I usally call at least a week in advance. Make sure you tell them you want a loaner. Most important, make sure you go early in the morning, otherwise all the BMW loaners will be gone. I have had multiple Bimmers, never once have I had a non-BMW loaner.

I have had the following as loaners: Pontiac G6, Mazda3, Trailblazer... these cars were from Enterprise. I have also gotten 328xi, 530i and X5 loaners as well, though.

I couldn't be any gay-er than that....

Wow.....hearing all those stories makes me love my dealer even more.

They have 20 service loaners, all BMW's. Last time I had a nice X3. Time before that was the 330i sedan.

I guess I should feel pretty happy!

Well I wish that I could agree with you on this but the only way you can get a BMW loaner at every dealership(that i have been to) is to request one at the time of the appt. Then your appt will be scheduled around the ability for them to provide a loaner. I have been to dealer ships many time where the following happen: they miscounted there fleet so they were short(loaners were getting service), weather conditions would not let them release the "sport package models"(fleet cut in half), people from the previous days loaners need to keep the car because of the longer than expected service needed(happens to me 40% of the time.

I guess it just depends on the dealership you go to.

That statement is a scary one. This is my first (and probably only BMW.) Are these cars in the shop that often that you have to practically be in a lottery pool just to get a loaner?? I did notice on the times when I took mine in that there was a substantial line of cars waiting to get in and the service bays were full. How are you long-term guys making out with these things?
