I love that most of the nay-sayers are usually not registered users.

Since I probably drive maybe the oldest E60 on the board (june 03 build, delivered in August) I've had some experience with the new 5 and it?s glitches.

Problems Encountered so far

Multiple Active Steering failures
The display shows text "Active Steering Failure" and the steering response becomes heavier. On some occations the steeing wheel "locks" turned at 3/4 to the left when traveling forward. Turning of the car and restarting it once or twice "solves" this problem.

Seatbelt reminder
Seat belt goes on while driving with no passengear or luggage in the passenger seat. Using the passenger seatbelt doesn't help, the beep continues even with the belt in the lock. Turning of the car and restarting it "solves" this problem.

CD-player
Sometimes refuese to read CD.
Turning of the car and restarting it once or twice "solves" this problem.

Other than this I have not found any other glitches so far.
After the latest software update 2 weeks ago I haven?t experienced any other glitches so hopefully everything has been solved.

Hiya Beemer!

Can you say what software version is that?
Or it it is the only software update?

All this makes me nervous. I am about to get my 545. I hope I can avoid these problems.
Had my 545iA for 2 months now. Great car, excellent engine and fabulous sound system (Logic 7) no glitches or worries(...yet!!)

My Xenons aren't aligned properly and the driver's cup holder won't pop out. 1500 miles on the odometer.

"Rather than try to censor or censure ANYone, which is NOT your right, you should consider exercising that right over which you do have control and which is inexorably yours to exercise: don't visit the board."

What a hypocrite.

You dont' want to be told what to do or what to say but are happy to tell others. You can't have it both ways.

Sorry, but you are talking rubbish. The title of the thread is "Problems Encountered", not "have a little chit chat and casually mention there is nothing wrong with your car".

The purpose of the sticky is clear and it should not be unreasonable for people expect to read about the thread title, esp. in a sticky.

There is the entire board AND a lounge area where you can talk about WHATEVER YOU LIKE.

Skidster's post is not any any conflict with what he wrote earlier, despite your best efforts to show otherwise.

Mods, my suggestion would be to do a bit of housekeeping and remove the cack (including mine) that has crept into this otherwise informative thread.

Silver4ever, you seem a bit upset with the general consensus of opinion being against you a while back. Grow up a bit.
