Ok, so we all know all of my auto issues. Got a call from the dealer this morning, who I guess got a call from BMW.... my NEW Seals are in, and waiting. they also have 16.2 for me, yes.. I know, but yes, they DO! and now, the tires... I am being given a choice, I can wait about 10-15 days MORE (on top of the month I have also waited) for the Bridgestone run-flat replacements, OR, Dunlop has redesigned their DSST 01 run-flats and their is now, as I am told, more support in the area that wore out, causing the tire roar, which I can have Friday or Monday.

Should I try the Dunlops again? they were great initially!!! and to tell you the truth, haven't gotten much feedback from this board on the Bridgestone's as to handling. Only that they are quieter. nothing realyl spectacular about the Bridgestones..

so............can I have some feedback now and opinions?

My car is in right now for that same tire problem. Are they paying for 100% of the replacement cost. My dealer was saying something like 50% and that will not fly with me. My tires only have 4K on them.

I think BMW is initially offering 50% but if you press the issue (as many have done) it seems they bump it up to 100%.

With only 4K miles, you really need to press the issue -- you'll most likely get 100% reimbursement but you may be forced to go with the redesigned Dunlops...

Redesigned crap is still crap. If I were you, I would wait for the Bridgestones.

I would have to agree w/ Rudy on this one. With only 4,000 miles, they should give more than 50% credit on the tires. Maybe not 100% like some folks got, but say 75%. I mean figure the RFs will last a conservative 20,000 miles, you're not even 3/4 the way through the life of your tires. I'd press on the 50% credit.

And in re-reading your first post, your dealer has received the new door seals? Please ask them if they are now coming in large numbers for all customers or if they got some special order just for you. I'm waiting for the new seals as well, but was told it would be around a month before they started getting new ones in. Thx.

at 4000 miles - definitely shouild be covered at 100%. as for the seals, they should be coming in larger qty's. There has been a backorder due to demand. first come, first served!

Glad you agree but I'd like to add that there's no way anyone is going to get 20K out of the runflats. I'm thinking you're lucky to get 10K -- at least on the rears. Then again, maybe you're talking 530i/525i and I'm talking 545i? All I know is that after 9K, my rears are almost bald but the fronts had some life left on them.

4K miles -- I'd settle for nothing short of 100% credit. They just gave me 100% after 9k (after initially offering 50%) so why settle for anything less?

No Rudy I'm talking a 545. Yes 10K may be the mileage for the obviously faulty runflats, but is the mileage that low for a different tire, a properly designed/manufactured runflat? If it is, then I can't really justify the 100% credit number you got. I'm glad you got it, but if you really got nearly 50% of the useful life out of the product, a 100% credit is very generous.
