Re. 15k mile service interval: The 15k mile service interval is just a rough estimate. The car uses all sorts of telemetry to determine when it's time for the services. Why worry? They're covered, as many as the car needs, until 50000 miles. If you do more stop and go driving versus highway cruising, and if you start/stop the engine frequently, this will all add up to a quicker oil service interval.

yes, i know. it acutally looks at your fuel/gas milage and temps to determine the life & occurance of the services - so my SM told me the other day, however he also mentioned that they never see the e60's coming in this early ... some at 12-13K miles, however never has he seen one come in at 9,500 miles.

and even though that services are covered, they are scheduled & prorated. most dealers will NOT perform a 15K service at 8K miles, and then again at 15K unless you pay them for it.

I had my first service at like 10,500 miles. There's no need to have anything performed at 15000 miles; just whenever the car tells you it's time. I don't even think about it. The dealers will only do the scheduled maintenance when the car says "it's time."
