According to the BMWUSA website (BMW Synthtic Oil recommendations) if we use Mobil 1 we should be using Mobil 1 SAE 0W-40.

Is anyone running this?

Ok, I have had my 2007 550I for less then a month and when I recently took it to my local dealer to look at some warranty work I asked what an oil change and brake job would cost. Are yo uready -

They said - Oil change w/a computer check: appx $250!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brake job all around: about $900 per axle for a total of $1,800!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also own a convertible vette right now and I thought there was a corvette tax whenever I went to the dealer, but this is outrageous! Luckily I can and will do both maintenance items when needed, but this is just silly. And, based on what I am reading for an oil change, they aren't being fair. I need to circle back with them in the future. This needs to be a long term "good" relationship but it isn't starting out that way, from my perspective. Thoughts?!!

Ugh!

So we have all agreed that DIY and normally Indy shops are less expensive options. And refusing the computer scope will save money.

Saying that, has anyone had experience with CPO warranty where not having the BMW dealership do the work has hampered the warranty coverage on a vehicle? Saving $100/year on an oil change is pennies if BMW continue challenge a warranty claim in the future if they feel it is due to lack of maintenance or an incorrect oil change etc..etc..obviously we all know that is bogus, but I dont put it past companies.

For starters, IMHO ... Unless iDrive or check control has triggered an alert the "Scope" charge is 100% pure dealer profit!

If this dealer reputable and nearby http://www.bmwofsout...als/service.htm track their specials or find a qualified BMW indy ... they all should or would be in the $100 range for an oil change and -- trust me --- they all will look your car over to find something else they can sell you .... I see NO reason to pay for an "inspection" as part of regular maintenance ... they 're going to do it anyway!!
