My car has the 929 307/308 part numbers as in the bulliten -- built Jan 04. Perhaps the part number on the new cars is a "corrected" version that won't crack again? When was your car built?

I've written down the new numbers and will have the dealer check during my appointment this Wednesday.

Thanks!

My build date was March 05, 2004. Rudy and I were close together. I imagine he has the same part numbers that I do and probably no cracks.

It stands to reason that the parts were changed after the defect was discovered, but it likely took a while after October to get the new parts in inventory.

I, like Lomag was a Jan 04 build and both mine were cracked. Did not get the part # of the old ones, so don't know if they were the 307/308 parts but assume they were. Did check and replacement brackets were the 633/634 parts. Both sets are plastic, so I hope the replacements are a stronger type of plastic. Anyway, the passenger side bracket had totally broken free and you could wiggle the enitre headlight assembly. The dealer did re-align the headlights after replacing the parts, though I had not noticed any mis-alignment prior.

Getting the brackets replaced on Wednesday. The technician was real happy to get a copy of the bulletin, saves him looking for them. He wasn't aware of any such bulletin. Maybe the bulletin didn't come out in the UK??? <_<

I don't think it got attention here in the US either, when I showed the service manager the cracks, he was ready to replace headlight units completely, not realizing that it was a separate bracket that could be replaced.

I know! That would have been an expensive error on their part. A $5.95 USD bracket vs. a $1,000+ USD headlight unit, as I have the adaptive, bi-xenon headlights. To their credit, they did not flinch when they saw what had happened, simply said replace the headlight.

It's probably due to the bracket not being listed in some ETKs. At least it isn't in mine (01/04 I think)..
