I think one of the sales guys took it home one night... Or they just did a test drive for fun.
I wouldn't take the car with more than 20Km's on the clock!
I ordered a new car, and 60 Km'2 means it has been used one day...
They could sue me if they want, I would simply order a new one - maybe at a different dealer.
Now, that you have the 60 Km's on the clock... Ask them to install the wooden handbrake and wooden shifter for free...

I was unhappy with 7 miles on the clock, so 60km is just too much.

They could have been giving test drives in your car for all you know.

I don't think I could live with waiting another 4 months, even if they did accept that
I refuse the car... :'( It sucks, that's for sure. They dealer did say he will investigate... I'm not holding my breath..

But that was my thought as well, some kind of compesation is all I can aim for...

Thanks for the input....

Exactly.

He was insistent that had not occured, but still, he's lacking a good explanation...

If it didn't occur... there wouldn't be 60KM's on the tach now.
It is your car, they are not allowed to do such extended testing or whatever they did.
I had 7 Km's on the clock! That's 4 miles!
You can theaten to refuse the car and complain to BMW about it, or he gives you the wooden shifter and handbrake...

I'm with you...

Is there anywhere written down how many km's a car can do before pre delivery?
Like my previous BMW's had 7km and 12km.

I wonder what's the limit? I can't be 60 , that's for sure.

The strategy is good , but I need something solid in case they call my bluff.

No idea how to strengthen your case but I would complain because 60 kms is ridiculous. I had 11 kms on the clock I believe.. or lesss...

I don't think there is anything written...
But 60Km's is ridiculous!
And whoever drove them, he definately didn't drove it by the brake-in rules!

You know, I was wondering why your car was in the showroom...
I think, because you haven't been there, they put it in their showroom, and some sales guy just took it for a test drive, or testdrove it with a customer, or something. Your car should have not been in the showroom! And they should've not been driving with it!

I am serious about it when I say, I would refuse it!
I would order a new one through another dealer and file a complaint about it with BMW.

Actually the car is in what's called the pre delivery room. All cars there are in fact ready for delivery...no access to general public. The showroom is on the other side of the building. My friend told me that's where he saw it when he went to see
it.
In practical terms the car is probably OK., but still it is an uncomfortable and " got screwed " feeling.
I will wait for their official explanation. I sent my complaint email with fotos and
arguments to the dealer this afternoon. We'll see.

Thanks for the input everyone. Will keep you posted.

Andy545:
Thanks for all of the photos. I really appreciate the "new" wood on the dash photo. Your car looks great.
