By the way, did anyone see my comment about the window switch changes for MY2005, I didn't really notice anything different about them.

Yep, that's weird! In the sales information it clearly says, that there is a change...
Maybe they changed the change...

Sorry to imply, but could there have been a problem that needed rectification? That might explain the extra mileage. If there's a problem, one usually will have to rectify it, go for a test drive, fine tune and then test it again. This goes on till the mechanics are satisfied that there will be no complaints during delivery. To clock 60 Km, it must have been quite something that went wrong. Just my 2 cents worth.

P.S. The footprints on the floormats are sure tell-tale signs. But then again, I could be wrong.

There's only a few reasons for the car to be driven 60km.
1) testing it
2) using it for a demo
3) joy riding

If it's for testing, what was the problem?

The other two are inexcusable.

Some serious discussion about compensation, even a replacement.
Good luck.

I was told by BMW salesguy that the dealers could reset the odo to zero but that's been outlawed in Canada in recently years. He said something about the dealer could reset the odo a limited number of times if the odo is not > certain number.

Mine had about 10km on the dial when I test drove it for about 20km. And I bought the one I drove the same day. (I suppose they wouldn't let someone else to test drive the car after it's sold !!!)

It had 60km when I picked it up. They explained they took the car out for PDI and to a window tinting subcontractor...testing of the vehicle tracking system (Boomerang II) . <_<

No mph in most countrys worldwide.

Only for the US, Canada, Uk and some others where they have mph (not many).

andy, the floor mats have a lot of foot prints as well :'(.? not sure those are from your shoes or other people.? if from other people, have them clean them and throw in the all weather rubber mats for free .? also, if they can't give you an good explanation, talk to the gm.? even if they can give you an good explanation, still ask for some compensations .

It was me.
Yeah, actually spent a lot of time in the car with the wife, so it needs a a vaccum
again..! The car seems to be always locked anyway, and no-one has access to
the predelivery room.

Andy, I'm still wondering why it takes so long for them to deliver the car to you.? They even have a "pre-delivery room" where they stack them all up?

Man, they're either moving more cars than anyone else in the world or they need to hire some more techs!? My dealer will deliver a car sometimes the same day it arrives off the truck.? If not the same day, surely they'd do it by the next day!

The paperwork for my car has some additional paperwork because it has been ordered via Diplo/International Organization channels and will receive special
number plates.

But even normal deliveries here take from 1 week to 10 days.

The predelivery room here was packed, over 30 cars...

So how does the dealer explain the mileage?

Obviously the extra km's were done before the car went into this room. Where it's
parked, looks like you need 1 hour before you get all the other cars out before you
reach mine.

The dealer received my 2 page complaint letter 2 days ago. I am overseas at the
moment so have to wait until I get back to see the development/answer.

Since a 545i is a rarity in Holland, my opinion is that my salesman took the
car for a drive around. He did this obviously after the technical check, because
the fuel gauge is slightly below FULL, and normally it's full after the predelivery
check when the car is fueled up. BTW, their standard procedure as I was explained
is to drive it to the local fuel station to fill up and this is a test drive as well.
They said they balanced the wheels and test drove it again. The tank station
is 4km away. Their story accounts for about 20km. The extra 30-40km are
being investigated. We'll see. The general manager is going to hear about this as well as soon as I get back.

I mean if there is nothing wrong with car, I gonna take it - but they're going
to really hear it first!!

Andy
