so you saying that the 997 turbo has a 5 speed (not 6) for the automatic transmission
Yes. I got documented. It's a 5 speed gearbox.

they are working on it!!! the problem is that DSG was not the best choice as Porsche is not happy with its current shift-responses, so they are going back to the drawing board to get it perfect (as an fyi, Porsche is the originator of the sequential gearbox technology from the '80s but only used it for racing)...anyway...they were not planning to offer the Tip anymore in the 997 and were going to put in DSG as the only option after the manual as they hoped it would satisfy all the owners that didnt want to clutch shift, so no new Tip was developed, but due to the problems in the dsg tranny, they were forced to use the 5sp tip from the 996 as a stop-gap.... But, a new version of DSG will be available from the P-boys on the turbo as well as the full line, they say within a year....
So it seems things are getting better and better for me. Summer of 2008 will be the finishing of the leasing on the 535d. If there are any chances by then to get the funds ok...if not i'll have to just keep dreaming. Until then Porsche would have perfected their sequential gearbox and the 997 turbo S would have been introduced. What more could you hope for?

....i luv this car, and if i had unlimited resources i would go for the GT3 with the new DSG, but, just as you said, lets hope to find some funds, that Turbo S is gonna be in ferrari territory in terms $$$, and the GT3 already is

?
GT3 is acutally less expensive then the turbo...it's 20k less or even more. Yes the new turbo S will be in the f430 if not under it's price tag, but way over it in overall performances.

sorry, you are right, i was thinking of how the price of the GT2 was in the 175K+ range a few years back, but agree that the performance of the GT3 will exceed the f430

..btw, autoweek has a new story on the GT3 today, they are stating an initial base of $106K for the 'standard' GT3, and then they hint there will be a GT3 RS to follow.... http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...E/60223010/1061

1st. I was talking about the turbo S easily beating the f430 in performance, heck even the 997 turbo beats it. Dunno on a track but i think the 997 turbo would stay with it. On a straight line there is no chance. 997 GT3 would probably beat it on a track also, or get the same time as the ferrari. No sweat though. You just missunderstood me
2nd From your link the most remarkable paragraph was by far the one where they said they will drop the carrera GT. Why? :'(
3rd If the 997 GT3 doesn't beat the ferrari on a track, i agree the RS will do it. But ferrari will probably introduce a f430 CS or smth so that the battle can carry on.
4th I so want A TURBO. :'(

the C GT was always set to only produce a few units over a limited time slot...they actually sold many more that they originally anticipated when the car was given the green light to go into production...it is a true masterpiece.....

This makes the new 911 Turbo the first sports car from Porsche with even faster acceleration in the automatic mode than in manual ? a result of the interaction of the turbochargers with their variable turbine geometry, Porsche Traction Management, and the new Tiptronic S set-up.

Thats for you BETTERMAKEWAY
