Let see the Clk, the problem i have right now is the power door lock, time to replace the lock assembly actuator already.
I've done a complete tune up already, done the service A and B , and also got new michelan tires, did brake service, I guess just mainly service stuff, i had a leak once when it rains the trunk gets filled with water took it back to the dealer they fixed it. The stepper motor went out and i guess that's it.

All car companies have problems every once in awhile, including BMW.
I remember when the E46 M3 came out, the first two years engines were blowing up. BMW had to extend powertrain warranties to 6yr/100,000 because so many cars were having problems.
Engine failures

Also the first couple of years the E65/E66 7 series arrived, people were having terrible experiences, which included all kinds of problems. Many people turned in their brand new bimmers using the "lemon law". BMW had to extend warranties on the 7 also.
7-series problems
My last car was a Mbenz 2002 C320, not one problem, just regular service. Now my E60 is another story, it has been in the shop more than any car I have owned.

Well valid points if you don't take into consideration that the difference in M BMWs and Mercs is the fact that the Ms are almost racign cars dressed up in road car suits and it's normal that some racing engines are allowed to have problems (more in the first 1-2 years) and the fact that the Ms especially but also the series ones pack the most technology in it. I wonder how much tech was involved in your 2002 C320, so you can really compare it to your 5 series reliability.
The extra cash you throw down on a M version car, it should not have potential to blow up, PERIOD! Thats why BMW extended the powertrain warranty.
AMG Mercs engines are known as hp/torque monsters, it most cases having more power than the M engines and they don't seem to have problems.
I mention the early years of the E65/E66 7's also, this is BMWs flagship, it should not have had the problems that owners encountered. Owners were returning brand new $80,000 $90,000 cars using the "lemon law", thats insane.
Then you say because the 5 series has more tech, that you should expect to have the car in the shop more than another make, thats insane also. If I spent about $50,000 on a car, it should be pretty damn reliable.
Had a brand new 3-series back in the mid-90s and it too spent more time in the shop than the Mbenz and Audi I have owned.
Just trying to point out, BMW has blemishes on their track record also, they are not the holy grail of reliability.
