Some comparisons:
335i: 3.0L TT I6 300hp/300tqm - can be modded to approx 375hp/340tqm
M3: 4.0L V8 414hp/295tqm
It would have been nice to see BMW get more torque out of its V8.

Seems to me like this whole debate is comparing apples to oranges whether you're talking about motors or the cars. BMW Motorsport's philosophy has always been about high revving engines whether people like it or not; which is not to say it's good or bad. Why debate about which is better??
And why are we comparing a Vette to a BMW?? They're two different cars with different buying segments. Get both! =)

And the debate wasn't about the car, it was engine philosophy and how they create horsepower.

My initial post I kind of said that, but it got out control after that, its personal choice.

Also about the weight of the two i'd like to know the weight of the vette engine just out of curiousity. We know the M3 engine weight so...
And in conclusion the fact that BMW stays true to it's high rev concept is even more applaudable since they still obtain reliability even at 8500rpm. The only thing i'm trully dissapointed is the fact that bmw didn't put a 10000 rpm dial cluster in the M3 even though it revs to only 8300 rpm but it's soooo damn good to see the 10 rpm digit there. AND YEAH the overall weight of the car compared to the RS4.

Yes but again i state. In general the higher the revs the lower the torque. Look at Honda S2000 also. It's a screamer compared to a vette, and it has low torque numbers. In fact it's all mathematics: power=torque*rpm*ct. The same power output found is the vetter is close to that found in the M3 but in different way. Vette has more torque but revs lower, in fact power peak is reached well below 7000rpm. The M3 is the opposite. Has low torque but revs high. As i said a million times: both the m5 engines and the m3 engines prove the fact that rpm act as "torque multiplier".

We started over and you're deviating from the topic

Check here for the weight of the M5 and Corvette engines:

And imo v8 should not be compared to v10. Aka m5 with the vette. Apples vs oranges.
But nice find swajames. Thanks
