Have you guys seen the New GS 430??
The nose looks kind of like an Acura Tsx or Audi A4.
Performance-wise not as good as a 545i
From a side to rear quarter view it looks like the 1st generation GS.
By the way some guy in a Pre 2003/2004 GS430 today on the West Side Highway by the Intrepid cut me off.
Then tried to challenge me at a stoplight.
Lucky for him i had my aunt in the car, or me and my 545i would've spanked him royally!

I have a lot of respect for Lexus/Toyota, they build great cars and trucks. What I don't like is the styling. The first time I saw a new GS, I thought it was the new Avalon. It is a shame Toyota has gone the same way GM did in the 80's when their cars all look the same.
I haven't personally driven the new GS, but the old GS didn't even come close to the interior appointments and especially the drive of the any BMW, even the 3 series.

In case anyone missed the link in another thread, this week's AutoWeek has a review of the GS and they mention the 5-series a bunch...

I think we should be a little bit more objective then "BMW or nothing"
Toyota makes the most reliable cars and trucks in the market and 20 years ago Lexus didn't even existed and look at it now we are comparing to BMW.
A statement that is no longer true. I read an article recently in a car rag showing that Hyundai is now the most reliable automobile out there. Toyota has fallen to 2nd place. Hyundai is the most improved of the cars in the most recent survey.
I can't remember if it was a JD Powers report or not, but I was very surprised.
So, if you want to talk reliability, then Hyundai should be on your list. Hmmmm, Hyundai or BMW? I'll vote for the Bimmer!!!

I owned a 1994 GS 300 for 5 years. Never saw a mechanic for anything but routine mait...oil..brakes etc. Having said that my next car was a '98 540. What a difference....The BMW had a far better ride. and the V8 had some set of balls. Was the BMW as reliable?? In my opinion no....I had a '99 540 sport after the '98 540 and I'm driving the '04 545. All three have been VERY tempermantal. Lexus is much more reliabe. Just my .02

Yes Japanese cars are known for being reliable anybody on this board saying otherwise is lying to themselves. German cars are known to be good drivers cars (cept' the tri-star) and that's it. You get a GS- if you want your car to get you there and you a get bmw if you want to drive there! and there is no problem with just wanting to get there! but personally I want to drive there and feel every corner I take. I would also love the sound of the rumbling V8.
