I am up on my contract with Verizon and am wondering what if any PDA's fulling integrate with BT in the E60? I currently use a Blackberry older model...but would switch to a Treo or another if I could. Verizon seems to have the shortest list of phones which will work with the car. Our service in this area is generally better with Verizon so I am not anxious to switch but I will if I can find a solution to integrate my office with my phone. Anybody figured this all out? What is the process by which Verizon or others get their phones on the BMW approved list?

Any thoughts?

In order to get full bluetooth functionality with BMW, you need to make sure the cell phone has the following Bluetooth profiles:

1. Hands Free

2. OBEX

Handsfree allows the car to control the phone, and OBEX is for transferring the phonebook.

To date, the only PDA device I have seen which is able to send the phonebook was the Treo 650.

I am hoping that the upcoming Motorola Q will allow it, however. Only problem is... the Moto Q is coming to Verizon first. So that's good for you, I guess. Personally, I can't stand Verizon. They have no GSM coverage, and they love to cripple everyone's phones before they sell them, and then make the customer pay money to "activate" certain features. They are being sued over this practice.

Sounds like Verizon = Vodafone in the UK. They insist on putting there own profiles/branding etc on all phones and while they are at it remove some features just for the hell of it. F*cking annoying.

It's illegal. And they are getting sued for it.

At one point, Verizon actually took phones which had Bluetooth from the factory, and they locked the Bluetooth and made people pay money to "activate" it.

Similar to BMW dealers trying to charge customers for "activating" Bluetooth on E60 cars.

The Qtek 9100 works fine but please remember that the iDrive has a limited phone number memory of 300 entries so if your PPC has more than 300 numbers it is hit and miss which numbers will be transferred to the car. Every Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC with the latest software shoudl work. My Qtek 9000 also works but only as a headset so no contacts transfer.

Just got a O2 Atom and the phone book is sent to the car's phone book! And the handsfree works great too!

I have read a couple places that some folks actually plan on keeping the Treo 650 over the 700. Fact or fantasy, and is it a good piece?
