Did you ever manage to get this fixed ? I have been trying to pair my N96 with my 525i for three days now without success. I get all the way to entering the passcode on both the phone and the car but the pairing just fails.
Afterwards i deleted the phone on the list and re-paired, again it didn?t pair according to idrive but after idrive reboot it was paired.

Same problem here.
I have contacted both Nokia Europe and BMW UK and they said that they the devices are incompatible at the moment.
Nokia sent me a link to a software that they said I should download and install on my phone in order to get the contacts showing in the car's sontact list, which I did.
Not only did it not work, but also now the mobile is F***ed up!!
So there you go.

That's why my N95 never would work. I was pissed. Freakin $800 phone and doesnt work. Keeps disconnecting. Then I switched to an HTC Herald. Worked a lil better but VERY staticky. Now I have the HTC dream. Works flawlessly.

Thanks for the replies. Tried again today after installing the latest firmware on the N96. Still no joy.
Its amazing how neither Nokia or BMW could come up with a simple fix for what is probably just a Bluetooth s/ware incompatibility. Even more frustrating is the fact that my previous phone , a Nokia 6230i worked perfectly in the same car !! Seems like we're moving backwards instead of forwards.

yup, E66 works great with idrive.
now i trying to make work Nokia N79 with idrive - connection drops and no contact list sync.
temporarely solution for connection drops - just disable for time when you are in your car "allow sync request" and similar options in Sync application options.
