Hi,

I just bought a used E60 2004 with Navigation System and Premium Package and I'm trying to use Voice Control and Telephone.

I read the FAQ about the Voice Control but I don't know how to verify if it's been activated or not. I called BMW and they said that they could look but I will have to pay the hour rate which I don't want if it's only because I don't know how to use it. When I press either the control panel button or wheel button, I don't see the icon in my navigation screen.

And for my phone, when I go to communication and click on telephone, it's says please wait or loading ( I'm translating since my system is in french). I read that I have to go to communication setting but how if it's not loading. When I'm going in " i " to my communication setting I don't see anything related to telephone it's only for activation or desactivation .

Thank you

So I tried to setup the bluetooth, but I don't have the option in my idrive options. Like I said ealier I have the pro nav system. What is the reason that I don't have this option ?

So I figured out that maybe since I don't have the bluetooth option, the voice control did not been activated. Can someone clear the situation for me please ? I call ed BMW but they don't want to help unless I set an appointement.

Thanks

No I don't see the option, but when I called BMW they said that I was supposed to have this option. And doesn't it come with all 545i 2004 with pro nav system ?

Thanks

If you have a single MENU button under your iDrive knob then you don't have the Extended Voice Control. There is a retrofit kit that you can get to enable Voice Input.

The messages you are seeing could mean that your phone is not supported. Or that you have such a large address book that its taking time to transfer it. Are you able to see an aerial symbol on the your idrive screen at the bottom in the middle? If not then try pairing another phone.

Do I need that "retro Kit" so my voice commands will work on a non-nav 2008 535? Here is my problem: when not connected to the car's Bluetooth system, my Motorola cell allows me to speak the command "name dial" then speak the name "Bruce" then it dials. But when connected to the car's Bluetooth system, I don't know how to access that Motorola phone voice "name dial" feature. Perhaps I need that kit. Thanks.

Once a phone is connected to an external device it 'gives up' its control to the external device. So you will not be able to access the Voice control of your phone via the car. You can still access that on the phone itself but that is no different to how you do it today.

I thought non-Nav cars still had some basic voice command for phone operations? Is that not true?
