Yup. Major draw back of BT. If you are going for a long drive you need a car charger

Doesn't seem like you have NAV.? I am not sure how different the voice commands for non NAV cars are.? Maybe thats one of the limitations.
Look on the information page of this site and download the list of voice commands.? They all seem to work for me.

I was chatting with my brother through the car.? I parked,? wanted to leave the car, but continue the coversation.? I expected that turning off the car would break the BT link and the phone would then prompt me to use the handset.? (this is how it works with the headsets).? So I turn off the car,? remove the key from the ignition.? The phone call is still active through the car.?? So I got out,? shut the door, locked the car and started walking away with the phone.?? I can still hear my brother still talking to me in the locked car.? V. Weird.

Had the same thing on the X5 Bluetooth. It is a "feature" believe it or not, so that if you stop the car, and have a conversation going, you don't have to use the gas while you are talking. If you keep walking away from the car, about 30 feet, it will transfer back to phone, as th BT link would be broken at that point.
\I think it may "take the ball" if you press the button on your headset/handset. Try it, it is impractical and rude to have someone wait while you walk 30 feet!
You will be able to dial by name, if you firs use voice command "Save name" and save the name and number. That is the disadvantage for us without NAV
Thank you, that worked.
I am guessing that there are two phone books then? The one that transfers to the iDrive from the cell phone and then the phonebook that I create by doing the save name (and number), which does not display in the iDrive. Correct?
Thanks ....

I have a 2005 530 with Nav and IDrive and a Cingular V600. I can get the car to pair with the car and to make and receive calls, but I cannot seem to get the phonebook to transfer over. Everything I have read seems to make me think this is an automatic process. Is there something I need to do that is missing to make this work or could this be a bug with my phone/car?
As a side note I also have a Razr V3 and had the same results when trying to pair this phone with the car... Handsfree operations work perfectly but no phonebook information gets transfered.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
