I tried to connect my Blackberry 7290 to my car via Bluetooth. They paired successfully. However I could not make a call. The I-Drive screen said "Please Activate Phone". I could not find a way to activate the phone. Any sugeestions?

I am debaiting on getting either Blackberry 7290 or 7100t. I really do want that device to be able to make a phone call through the bimmer, as that is the only phone I am going to have. If anyone in the US has a 7100t (through TMobile) and had paired it and made a call using it through the bluetooth bmw, please let me know.
Thanks all!

I cannot recall exactly how it (BB7100v) worked on my iDrive.
IMO it could be two things.
Did you set the BB to "trust" the bluetooth connection? I think you did and that this is not the problem. It might help.
The iDrive cannot do anything with the BB so it doesnot see a phone. Too less bluetooth profiles on the BB (security I guess...... ). I think when you dial from the BB, it connects to the iDrive and will take over the call. The iDrive functions as a very basic headset.
At least, that's how it worked when I tried the BB7100v for a week. I cannot redo it as I had the phone as a loaner for a week.
Same procedure worked for the Treo650.
Not really sophisticated technology.... (yet)!
Bye

Blackberry 7290 I could get it to pair, but I followed all of the suggestions and I still could not get it to work. This was a test for Blackberry owners on this board. I use my RAZR V3 with the e60.

Just had my MY545 July 04 production upgraded to take advantage of bluetooth. I am the first person to get this done in Calgary, Alberta Canada and it works great. The voice command also started working - which is an option I never bought.
Paid a lot of money for the dealership to figure out what to do, but it was worth it in the end.
Thanks Pharding.
