Bluetooth Compatability
#31
I have a 2005 545i with navigation and yesterday I was able to pair it with a Nokia 6260 which I know BMW does not officially support. This is my experience:
[Y] ability to recognise phone and pair
[Y] ability to remain connected to the car
[Y] ability to make/receive calls
[N] phone book automatically synches to car
[N] dial by name (without verbal training of system)
[N] calling name display (using adddress book)
[N/A] ability to send/receive SMS - haven't tried yet
I can't answer/disconnect a call from the steering wheel button, though, which would be a nice upgrade. As has been previously posted here, the audio on the receiving end of the call is better if I turn the car's audio volume down - seems to reduce the static on that end.
Two weeks of ownership and loving the car more and more everyday. The worst part of the ride is getting to where I'm going!

Keep 'em coning! These reports are very useful.
I'm contributing them to the X5world database and hope that he'll update that resource so that it can be a more general-purpose database of phone compatibility with BMW BT systems.
I am also posting the updated reports of all that I compile to roadfly, so you might want to check out this thread: Additional thread on phones compatible with BMW BT system

[/quote]Hang in there for a couple of weeks. There seems to be reliable evidence that the V710 from Verizon will have its BT fixed. In you case I would buy one then. Those of us that have one will have to have the firmware updated.

There seems to be a lot of compatability problems with various handsets (even one's BMW say are compatible!) and would love to hear from anyone who has a handset that works well with Bluetooth.

This is an interim report (24.11.2004), as I'm still trying to coax a P910 to work with my car, but it looks bad.
