whentmets, when you transfer "all entries," do you see multiple entries for people who have more than one number? Before my CIP upgrade, I would see something like "Smith, John - work" and "Smith, John - home."

Rudy, Yes I do. For example if I have on my BBerry one entry "Pete Smith" with three numbers assigned to him (one as cell, one for work primary and one for work secondary) then I see three entries in the E60 as Pete Smith - Cell, Pete Smith - Work Primary and one as Pete Smith - Work Secondary.

Regards
Pete

One thing I don't like about the interface (assuming it works when I get my 5 back) is how it treats a phone number that is applied to more than one contact. For example, I have mobile numbers for Jan and John Smith, so they each show up as a separate contact with "- Mobile" next to their names. Since they have the same home number, the BMW system only applies it to Jan, since she comes before John alphabetically. Even though my BB has the home number for both Jan and John, iDrive doesn't act as though John has a home number. This is a minor annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless.

Well if I can get my contacts back in any form, I could live with this minor annoyance...

Well they had to order some parts for the moonroof, so I won't get the car back until at least Thursday afternoon. I'll post as soon as I (hopefully) get it to work just as it did before.

FWIW, my 8700c is running the "officially supported" software, v4.1.0.194

Bummer that you still don't have any news for me Wildcat.

They kept my car tonight because they had to open a PuMA case for the noisy display issue and to await word from you about your BB 8700c findings.

If and when you are able to learn more, please post here as soon as you can so I can get an email notification -- by Thursday afternoon, I may already have my car back but you never know...

Thanks for your help!

P.S. - I paired a BB Pearl with the M-ASK based 530Xi Touring today just to double-check things and the address book transferred exactly as I expected -- multiple entries for people and all. The biggest difference is that the Pearl doesn't have nearly the amount of address book entries as my 8700c...

Rudy - Did you ever get your car back and test the 8700c? I'd have tried it myself by now, but that's a different story ( http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=37441 ).

I haven't done anything yet because I'm waiting for Wildcat to report back. I had a brief discussion about the problem with my SA (he was unaware of any issues with BB BT and CIP 24.00) and I didn't want to start a wild goose chase if the problem was in my phone.

If Wildcat's 8700c works on CIP 24.00, then it's clealy my phone...

And I just got her back (finally). My 8700c works like a charm, address book and all. My Target Data Status is E060-06-12-510, which I believe translates to 24.00 (SA didn't know offhand and I was in a hurry) and my BB firmware version is 4.1.0.194. What I haven't been able to find is whether the mythical "CIP 24.02" has the same TDS number as 24.00. If that's the case, it's possible that I have 24.02 and Rudy has 24.00, but I doubt this would make a difference anyway.

Perhaps the only thing left for Rudy to try would be to have someone else with an 8700c try to pair it with his car, but he already stated he didn't know anyone with the same phone. I'd offer mine, but Pittsburgh is a fair haul from here! Maybe see if someone at the local Cingular store uses one? The way it sounds, though, it's almost certainly a problem with the phone itself.

FWIW, my old Data Status was E060-05-09-535 (CIP 19.02.03). The previous owner was obviously not a stickler for up-to-date software.
