Hi,

Does anyone know where the antenna is mounted on the 645Ci Coupe?
I know the 545i has it in the shark fin, but the 6 doesn?t have a shark fin.

Thanks

DZ

GPS, Bluetooth and SAT Radio all tucked up under the composite material trunk lid in two multi-freq antennas.

cobradav is correct that the multi-band antenna is located under the trunklid. The only thing I'm confused about is that TIS only shows one antenna, not two...

Yea the drawing would lead u to believe there is only one but indeed there are two. Maybe just saving ink They are exactly equi-distance from the center latch so in the TIS it would be to the left had it been shown. While they look identical the passenger side has two leads (shown in TIS) and driver side three leads connecting. The parts list shows two different part numbers and that would be borne out by the two different configurations. And although the parts list shows an amplifier (antenna) in the lid as well it is not on my vehicle. It may have been for the CPT9000, TDMA or other reason.

The amplifier (for the diversity antenna) is located in the rear left roof pillar. That should explain why you don't have one inside the trunk lid...

Thanks, that it explains it. I guess that parts list just gets u in the "neighborhood".

While I see this TIS it reminds me do u have anything on removing that rear headrest they mention in this TIS?

That rear window is a bitch to clean and it could be much easier if the headrests came out easily.

Easy?? well if you can press 500 lbs straight up. Found the best way was to sit in seat as normal, lift arm overhead and insert hand between top of seat and headrest (palm up of course) and exert mightily

The results:
