Regardless of whether YOU are actually a nice person or not, the stereotype is that BMW drivers are all big ol’ Jerky McJerk faces. But that’s because they’re superior beings in every possible way, duh.

To attempt the world record for “jumping a car while towing a caravan,” the Fifth Gear team fitted up an E34 BMW 530 with “some serious safety modifications.”

What happens when you add two decades of use and remove most of the exhaust system from a E34 530i? Well, you lose power, that’s for sure, but you do gain some decibels.

The E28 is seen as the Genesis to the M5 lineage; we often praise the E39 for it’s ultra refined and near-perfect driving dynamics; and of course the E60 is epic in its own right. So does that mean the E34 is the underdog here?

A straight piped V10 M5 is good enough to startle most, especially if you drive like this jerk.

Over the span of 40 years, much has changed about the BMW 3 Series, but then again, much has remained the same.
