Please it just seems some technicians at BMW, all they can do is replace stuff, but they don't know what the component does, just that the diagnosis says replace.
Does anyone know what the CCC module does? What components does it control, what doesn't work when it's damaged.
Where is it located in the car? Also the TCU where is it, and do both have to be reprogramed when they are replaced? Thanks!!!!

CCC is a Car Communication Computer.
CCC has numerous functions. Basically CCC is a small PC. CCC is the main module in the MOST fiber optic network. It connects to various other modules and acts as a gateway between MOST and CAN bus. It controls Audio/Visual functions and has the navigation hardware/software integrated.
If CCC fails you can still drive the car to service but that's pretty much it.
CCC is located in the dash behind the CD/DVD slot cover (just below climate controls).
TCU is located at the left side of the trunk.
And yes, both need to be programmed if replaced, otherwise some functions maybe missing.
I hope this helps.
Best regards.

The CCC is the "Car Communication Computer" and is pretty much the "brains" of a car with professional navigation (as opposed to "M-ASK" cars which don't have pro nav.) In other words, it does a ton of stuff... ![Wink](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/wink.gif)
The following documents will give you some additional information about the CCC:
SBT__Car_Communication_Computer_E60__E61__E63__E64__E70__E87__E90__E91__E92__E93__R56.pdf
CCC_System_Overview.pdf
The TCU is the "Telematics Control Unit" and controls things like Bluetooth, BMW Assist, etc. Threre's a ton of information about TCUs in the forums so do some searching and you'll likely learn a bunch.
Good luck!
