Is there an E60 Forum for US only?
I do not care to read about european, taiwanese or singaporaen posts, those models are not US models. We need a US only E60 Forum. I come here to find out about issues, problems, solutions, etc about my E60 which is a US model, but waste a lot of time sorting through foreign countries posts, with colors/options/engines/models different than US.
Can the E60 forum folks create a US Only forum and another other countries forum to make it easier for US customers to post and read ? If I want to know about singaporean or european models I can go to the other forum, but I am really interested in US models and find myself wasting time reading a bunch of posts from other countries, especially when people do not indicate where they are from.
After all, the US is BMW's biggest market.
Happy 4th of July.

Pretty simple to skip posts you don't find of interest. I for one enjoy reading about models available in Europe and elsewhere, and appreciate reading commentaries, reviews and input about common issues from posters outside of the US.

It would be nice if posts were separated, I sometimes enjoy reading posts about other countries too, but when I am looking for US models posts, I have to read all posts to find the ones I am really interested in. I do not have the same issue with bimmerfest for example, that forum seems to be a US forum.

Nah... Mixing them is good. We need the interaction to troubleshoot problems and exchange ideas. I wouldnt want to be going back and forth between forums. Even now I dont visit other forums besides the Main forum. if it gets broekn down more I'll prob not read the board at all cuz there will not be enough topics of interest and it'll take too much effort / time to go through both Euro US and Asia sub forums. There's always topics of interest from all over.
we had similar arguments before of having separate forums for stuff... this was in regards to performance of the car when compared to other cars and admins thought it should have gone to a separate forum and it caused a lot of headache. And eventually it did...
The forum is good as it stands now. No need for excess sub forums.

With the E60, you have to keep in mind that there are many more issues common to all countries than there are issues limited to the US only.
If there was a "US only" forum, where would we post stuff that is specific to all countries? Do you suggest that we duplicate that information multiple times across all of the country specific forums? Sure, if you know you're looking for information that is specific only to a US model, then having it in one "US only" forum would benefit you but only if it's clear that what you are looking for is US specific. The problem is that most times, people that have questions or problems don't automatically know if they have a country specific problem or not. The beauty of this forum is that once a problem or question is posed, people from all over the world will offer input and you'll quickly learn whether or not the issue is country specific. If we all sat in our little country specific forums, we'd likely not know about nor understand the intricacies of these issues that may be common to all.
I agree with the others that right now, the forum works well in it's current layout. This forum is the best E60 forum in the world -- no question about it. Why? Because we do have people from all over the world offering their collective experiences to assist others with this fine automobile we all love so much. You are correct that Bimmerfest does seem to be heavy with US members but everyone knows that the "meat" of E60 information is right here. (Actually, most of the "meatier" stuff you see over there came from over here...
) I truly feel that because of the geographic diversity of our members, this board trumps the others in terms of useful information.
I also agree that it would be nice if everyone added their location to their profile -- we've discussed many times before how it would be nice to make that a mandatory field but I don't think the board software supports that. What's been working is a simple reminder or suggestion from veteran members to our new members asking them to add their location to their profile. Lately, I think many of us have gotten lazy about this but sooner or later, the new members end up asking a question that is country specific, etc. so eventually they end up adding their location.
I'm sorry you feel that the board wastes your time when you have to sift through topics that don't interest you. Hopefully, you'll consider how much time (and money) the board can potentially save you when you get information that is pertinent to your specific issue(s). If you're having trouble finding the answers you are looking for, just post a question and someone will surely point you in the right direction!
Happy Birthday America!

+1 wit rudy. One question, you need a US specific forum, and all others are just 'others'? I felt funny reading that. A suggestion is to create a US thread like the thai or singapore or hong kong thread.

I personally enjoy reading through different countries posts and the culture exposure that comes with it. Besides, many of the problems/issues we face are universal...However, I do understand your point..
