Mark, I think your idea makes perfect sense. I voted for the plural version only because it sounds better.

All the best
agreed!

I do wonder if using titles like e60.net, f10.net or 5erforums.* is immediately limiting the audience. I imagine there are a lot of people that own an e60 right now (or will buy an F10 next year) and have no idea that's what it is.

If it were me, I'd go for 5series.com/net if it's available. I suppose you could argue that if someone doesn't know even the BMW internal code for their car, then are they the people we want. Glad I don't have to make that call. I just want to raise the issue.

I even wonder how many Brits/Ozzies/Americans really know what a Funfer (5er) is. It's a German word that's spilled out into the world to a pretty narrow enthusiast audience. All it really means is Fiver, just in German (or as me and my mate called the language when we first came here "sausage" - "they're all speaking sausage").

I remember I didn't know the E codes for my first six BMWs and didn't know this current 5 was called an E60 until last year when I decided I wanted one and started researching.

I voted for 5erforums.com but I do also think that 5series.com or 5series.net would seem more intuitive to and probably easier to come up on a search for newcomers.

I don't think we can do 5series.com or anything like that.. they are already taken and their owners will probably want thousands to buy them just like the guy who owns 5er.com. I think "5er" is pretty good, no? The association between 5 Series and 5er is immediate in my mind. I really wish we could use 5er.com as the shorter the domain, the better, but the price doesn't allow it. Ahhh.....

I also like the plural.

Not what you asked, but if you are going to make a change, I'll mention it anyway: might you consider using vbulletin for the next forum incarnation? I do not represent vbulletin in any way, but most of the forums I post to use it. Personally, I find it a much better interface than invision.
I personally prefer phpBB over IP.Board, and IP.Board over vBulletin.
Mark, any chance this will happen (switching to another forum)?

No, the platform of the site will not change although the new IP.Board 3.0 is much more like vBulletin I think.
