I was able to find a pre 05 airbag for mine....But I bought a paddle steering...I need to buy the retro kit to make it work....I was with you on the knowledge of the steering wheel...Who would ever have known that there was differnt parts for the car even though they look the same.....I was lucky enough to talk to both sellers, one for the steering wheel and one for the airbag, that knew more than me so I didn't end up buying the wrong parts!
My comments were more or less for everyone else to know. I wasn't singling you out.

Thanks for the wealth of information guys! So to recap: you can fit any round airbag in the pre 9/05 sport/m sport steering wheel as long as you get the correct plate....right? I too have learned more than I ever wanted to know about these dang steering wheels!

That is correct. But I still suggest you get the proper one for your steering wheel if you want it to be a true "plug & play" install. Otherwise you'll have to modify the airbag horn wires (very simple though) and buy a new mounting plate for the steering wheel.
Thanks!

Its not the wiring thats different...Its the horn contacts....The difference is the position of the copper pieces that make contact for your horn....
See the difference....I got mine from a great seller...He had both....
