i think the main reason this rule exists is to stop those who bump their threads everyday, and say "bump" everytime.
i think by just adding a little something to your thread every few days is no harm done.

The rule needs reform
While it's true that this not a selling platform, bumping the thread should be allowed at least once a week.
I am not selling anything and (most likely) not going to sell anything in the future so this rule does not affect me much but... I'm just sayin'.
