R&T review
#1
I read this type of article a lot. It amazes me what the journalistic public have to say sometimes. If you read all the text of the article it clearly identifies the 545 as the ultimate sports sedan. When R&T throw in all the subjective scoring the 545 falls short of the M45. Yes I-Drive and the exterior styling play a large roll in the outcome of this review as well as price.
If I was in the market for a sports sedan shouldn't the "sports" part carry the most weight??
I'm really tired of all the crap the 5er has taken it really is out of hand!
Sorry I just had to rant.

Personally, I could care less what the magazines write...
Everytime I drive the car I know it's the best sedan on the planet. That the M45 wins the comparo is even a further testament to how good the 5er is because clearly they copied as much as they could.

Agreed. The Sports side should be the #1 criteria and if you looked at that aspect, the 545 is the best car of the bunch.

Lexus and Honda want to be like BMW not the other way round.
Lexus and Honda in the UK, IMHO, are "nobodymobiles".
I wouldn't buy either because each time I was driving and saw the E60 I would cry
I do however like the Lexus way of putting buttons in the ashtray in an attempt to clean up the dashboard

When you get right down to it, the JD Power APEAL owners' survey is the single most telling report on the desirability and ultimate value of an automobile. Its results for 2004:
Mid Luxury Car
Highest Ranked: BMW 5-Series Sedan
Premium Luxury Car
Highest Ranked: BMW 7-Series
Owners love these cars!

I notice that if you take out interior and exterior styling (highly subjective), and if you eliminate the price (when you're out to get the ultimate 4-door sport sedan, what's a few grand...), the the 545i wins hands-down on the points count.
