So performance is not all that important to you?? Performance does not arouse your desire?? You might not like GM for some reason or another, thats ok, but give Caddy its props when due.? Up until the 06 M5 the CTS-V could run neck and neck with it.

P.S.? I am considering the 550i for a host of reasons, but none because I won't buy a GM car or because I have a "desire" to own a BMW.? First and foremost is the SMG, second is some of the luxury amenities on the 550i.? Bang for the buck and purely performance wise the Caddy beats the 550i.? I love the CTS-V and the 550i both and give both cars mutual props and respect and would be happy to drive either.

When did I say performance does not arouse my interest . If you read further up the posts, I said I am not interested in anything from GM, Chrsyler or Ford. You are right I am not interested in what performance the CTS-V can give, the first thing I said to myself when that car come out is "who came up with the design" and they are saying that this car will compete against the E46 . Well you know that's what happen when a company grows too big, they do crazy stuff and the big three manufacturer in the U.S. does come up with design that doesn't appeal to me. I am not saying they won't come up with something good in the future but they will need something really cool to change me.

Whats wrong with the CTS-V performance that makes you not interested? And what does performance have to do with the cars design? If you don't like the way it looks, thats one thing and a very valid reason for not liking the car. But don't tell me the car can't perform.

Second thing. So whats wrong with an Audi? You have a problem with those cars too? My A6 2.7T stacks up just fine against your 523.

Oh, and sorry to hijack this thread, it was not my intention.

Okay you win by experience , If you don't like the car the way it looks would you buy it? I never say it cannot perform, it will not change the outcome and I still would not be interested in the CTS-V. You like the Caddy than is ok, I am just saying that I don't like them, why are you trying to change me.

And no I never say I don't like Audi, maybe if you have a RS4 I would say cool car. Plus if I have a choice between the 523 or the A6 2.7T I will choose the 523 even though it is slower.

So let's just stop it at this point if you don't want to hijack the thread.

Not trying to change you, just trying to enlighten you a bit that not all American cars are dogs, thats all. Purely innocent.

You are right, I should have more sympathy :'(? the CTS-V is already a step up from the A6

Sounds like no respect for the Audi to me, but what do I know. I'll take my A6 over your 523 any day, so lets agree to disagree.

And yes, I agree to drop this now. Been fun

Anyway, on topic. I thought BMW reliability has always been good as has most of the German cars. I am not sure I am beleive that survey. I know on JD Powers German cars have gotten good marks. Oh well.

My Ride: 07 530i Silver Gray Metallic, auto, winter package, premium package, black leather.

The initial thread indicated that 3 series was not evaluated because it was new.....the 2006 3 and the 5 series have the same engine. they are programed different for the 325 and the 525 but the 330 and 530 have the same HP. So if they say the 5 has a good engine then the 3 should have the same rating.

Performance isnt everything... Going fast in a straight line or even in bends arnt everything... its a complete package... FOR ME... again thats FOR ME... what the CTS-V is lacking is interior... its nasty.... cheap plastic everywhere... however I do love the exterior styling and the LS2 engine! thats quick.

BUT again quick isnt everything... the new Honda Civic Si is "quick" do I want it? Hell no! what a piece of crap.
