Sorry - I thought this was a forum to debate issues - not something to hurl abuses at people when they disagree with you because you haven't actually experienced the facility. Nice style man... nice style. Great use of the English language for someone from Germany

I'm surprised that your navigation skills aren't better than a GPS satellite - you must be slipping !
WTF?

You asked me a question and I gave you an answer. YOU then responded with that whinig stuff...
So, what exactly do you want?
You didn't posted like you really want a debate.

If you go personal, I do so too. period.

I haven't experienced... Ah, I see...
So I only have been dreaming about driving and testing the system... OK...

Navigation skills huh?

I have to agree with Iceman that the high beam assist is one of the most useless available options for the 5er.
But then again it's one of the cheapest options available so why not add it as a gadget and have la augh when it switches on and off, it's cool too see what's possible nowadays.
I also agree that a person reacts much faster then the system, when I had oncoming traffic I was tempted to manually switch it off but just when I was going too it switched off automatically.
Conclusion.... it doesn't add anything to the driving experience, but it's cheap enough to buy it and only use it 2-3 times and brag to your friends about having such a wonderfull car with all the latest technology

I agree with Ice on the sensor thingy. Just think about auto headlight sensor. It's very basic thing and it did not work very well. It turns lights off when out of tunnel a few seconds later. Assume the high beam assist sensor would turn off a few seconds later, lights from high beam already blind coming traffic.
In other words, BMW needs to resolve headlight sensor first, then thinking about this new high beam assist gadget. It's a good innovation, but it might produce more accident. Please look at your sensor again, BMW.

He is more American than German that is why he speaks Fckn good English ey

I do not really care about lights, when I cannot see in the night, BUT not in the cities, on roads.. I use my high beam when someone is comming from LONG distance I see his beam and I switch off, if he does not switch his off I switch it back again on the mfb.

Fog lights are COOL specially when you have a nice front

I have an 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has an auto-highbeam system. It sounds like a cool feature, and it works great when in total darkness....but......I think Iceman has it right. The system has flaws, CAN be slow to respond to light stimuli, which means it's too slow to switch to low beams. It also gets fooled by non-light (reflective) sources and will start switching more than you want it. Now, the good news is, you can simply over-ride it with the high beam selector on the steering wheel stalk. But, after having used it for about a year.....I think it's really not all that great, especially driving in cities. Just my .02

Now, the night vision......not sure about that....I would love to hear from someone that gets that on how usefull it really is. I don't seem to see that anyone has it yet, so we will have to wait to hear. I have noticed several people that have just ordered new E60s got it as an option.....
