My Ride: 2010 BMW 535I Xdrive
Just bought my second BMW. Went from a 2003 BMW 325xi to a 2007 BMW 525xi, Monaco Blue Metalic. Beige interior. Pictures soon. Car is mint and runs perfectly. I am contemplating putting in a glove box cd changer. I have the prep package and found the optical cables but not the power cable yet. Does anyone know how much it should cost to program the car to accept the cd changer? I live in Harrison Maine and work as a nurse. Got laid off from being an electrical distributor branch manager at 50 y.o. Started over now as a critical care cardiac nurse. Great job. Will have more questions I'm sure soon. Also, anyone know where to buy a key and fob for less than the $300 my dealer wants?

Welcome to the forum, Gary!
I have an '07 E60xi myself. You'll love it next winter if you see the same amount of snow that you guys had this season, lol!
Not to discourage you, but CD changers are so last decade! If you have the aux jack between the seats in the back, you can either stream bluetooth from your phone or use a patchcord. I just have the single CD player in the dash and hardly ever use it.

Thanks for the welcome. We still have snow here in Maine. Just got 5" this weekend and the car is awesome in the snow. I have a spare set of BMW rims along with Hankook snows. My 325xi was awesome in the snow as well. I used to be a Lexus guy but am pretty sure I am now a Bimmer guy. Wish I had a 530 or 535. I am assuming it has more horsepower. The six speed auto/tiptronic makes it OK at higher speeds but it lacks in the 0 to 40 mph range. Is there a significant difference in the 530? I do stream with my aux input but I still love listening to my cd's. The addition of 6 cd's would help with my ability to have listening options. I also plug my 160 gig ipod into the aux jack where I have unlimited music to listen too. Perhaps I just need to create playlists. I have the same music in MP3 format. Any suggestions on a cheaper place to purchase a key and fob vs. the dealer at $300?
Thanks

I just came across the attached. You didn't say what the issue was with your current one, or whether you just need a 2nd one. If it's the former, maybe you can just troubleshoot.

The key fob is defective and I only have one physical metal key. The fob will start the car but the buttons don't work and comfort access is set to previous owner. It won't reset when plugged into the ignition. I need to purchase a new complete key and fob. Like I said, dealer wants $300+
