My Ride: 2007 BMW 550i w/SMG - JetBlack - Dinan Software - Dinan Exhaust - Anthracite Trim - Anthracite Headliner - Sport Package
Man, I left this post for like 1 hour and you two had a whole conversation!!
I am going to get the 3.91 diff, flywheel and JRZ suspension from Dinan as soon as engineering releases the JRZ's.
(I still get my employee discount )
Dinan also might release a S/C now that Alpina has had sucess with theirs, since the software kinks have already worked out by Alpina it will be easy for Steve's team to build the bolt on kit.. THIS IS TOP SECRET AND DIDN'T HEAR IT FROM ME!!
Say you heard it from ECF (Tony)
I am considering the headers and cats from RDSport, even though the price is well
The 100 octane gas is still Unleaded so shouldn't hurt the cats at all.
^I'm rolling in a 5-series....what else.
Did you ever change out your differential? I was reading up on some things and I think you should go with the 3.9 final drive. The 3.9 will work well in either NA form or with the VF SC if you ever decide to go that route. I'm assuming VF uses the vortech blower though.

^Oh and I saw the thread that Chris posted up about the headers and sport cats.
Do you have high-flow cats or straight pipes with your RD sport exhaust? The straight pipes will probably be cost efficient and give you some good power in the upper RPMs. That 100 octane gas is killing your cats anyhow.

As for 100 octane, from what I understand, the ecu cannot fully adjust to 100 octane, so it won't advance timing enough which will yield to premature cat failure. I don't have a more thorough explanation, but that's my understanding on things.
You should be fine with a mix of 100 and 91 though. A full tank of 100 octane is honestly a bit of a waste on a NA car.
As for sport cats, I'd much rather have test pipes/straight pipes. They'd be cheaper, yield more power and offer a more aggressive sound. The drawback is it might be too loud for some, might smell a bit and in california they are actually illegal. However, I know of a few people who run them on different types of cars without any trouble from law enforcement. In a car like the e60, I doubt the police would bother checking for such a mod.

I have not decided yet, but I do know that I will take one. I have a close family member who will take the other, so either way I should be happy
After following DRM in his 996 and listening to his Milltek exhaust, I would not mind having a porsche

All these talks about mods are making me drool.
VT and I were talking about this last night and we were wondering where member rpav is. He's the only one I know that has the full RDSport power exhaust on his 545 but I don't remember seeing any detailed write up about it.
