I will have a look at the hotel - I am sure that it will be fine for two nights.

Originally, we were going to drive through Sweden, take the bridge over to Copenhagen, and head to Germany via the ferry to Puttgarden. However, now it looks like we will take a ferry from Helsinki, straight to Germany. Rostock or Travemunde would be the destination.

So, at the moment, it is hard to say exactly where we will be and when - depending on the time the ferry arrives (depends on which ship we take). But I am working on all of this!

At any rate, we plan to be in Munich by about 17.00 CET on Friday. I am sure that we could meet in Hamburg for the drive south. Lets keep planning!

Ok.

Now I just have to disguise my 8 year old son as a 6 year old!

As an alternative hotel, I just checked out the Courtyard (Marriott) M?nchen Zentrum hotel. Its very close to the old town, e.g. Marien Platz and Hofbr?u Haus. Its marginally closer to BMW Welt than the Motel One hotel. I'm a big fan of the Marriott hotels -- best beds IMHO They have 30 parking places on site and a car-park across the road.

- Price per night: EUR 89,- (Motel One is EUR 74,- )
- Parking per day: EUR 16,- (Motel One is EUR 9,- )
- Breakfast: approx EUR 20,- (probably the same at Motel One??)
- Cancellation free of charge until 18:00h on the day of arrival
- Distance to BMW Welt approx. 7,5km

** Note, the reservation service warned me to book soon if wanted to get this rate, as it was already quite full **

I personally would probably go for the Marriott, because of beds and location. However, I think there's not much in it and it may be better to go for the one where we can all get the good rate? Again, thoughts please. Any preferences between the Courtyard Marriott and Motel One?

Well, we have a long road trip ahead of us after the meet, so for this two-night Munich stay, I just want someone to tell me where to make the reservations!

I haven't stayed at a Marriott since about 1985 (somewhere in Oregon, as I recall), so it works for me!

That's a good reason to go for Motel One if breakfast is that cheap. Being charged EUR 20,- per person for breakfast always annoys the hell out of me
Its slowly becoming clear why Maxwell, our local Munich member, recommended Motel One!

Agreed. 20 Euros for a buffet breakfast is quite silly. It would have to be a damn good breakfast!

Cheaper parking, more parking places and so on. Motel One is probably a better choice.

Yeah, I with you mate. We'll give it a couple of days and if no-one objects to Motel One, then that's the one we'll go for / recommend that all attendees book.
