Well, I was referring more to professionals, as I said. Many places I go, doctors, lawyers, accountants, educators, businessmen, etc. consider khakis and a polo business attire. In southern states, in my experience, clients expect a person of a certain level of society to dress accordingly. Find me a southern gentleman who doesn't live most of the summer in seersucker or linen suits, and I'll show you a guy who's not dressing accordingly.
Charlotte, NC, here. I rocked the seersucker suit today...white shirt, red tie, real, leather-soled shoes (I HATE rubber-soled "dress" shoes!). I prefer something slimmer (Gucci or Ferragamo with the seersucker), but Cole Haan makes a great dress shoe as well.

you are a rare breed (in the big scheme of things). good look my friend.

i think maybe my idea is skewed a bit. i live in the suburbs, therefore i meet the suburb people. suburb people my age (26) are bartenders or work at the AT&T store or some crap. maybe when i move downtown i will see a whole different scene.

It's just a tradition in many places that I visit. That's all I was trying to say. Perhaps my experience is unique.

so we went from moving to Italy and chasing chicks to finding southern gentlemen in 2009?

something I should know about you fellars?
Yes: a gentleman in a nice Italian (or bespoke) suit, regardless of where he is, will do better chasing chicks.

BTW: don't tell my wife. I tell her it's strictly ironic John Deere t-shirts and sagging jeans when I'm on the road.

Funny. Little Rock is a weird town. Not only the only modded 5 series in town, other than clients of mine with M5, M6 and Alpina..... But, seriously a very small group of suit wearers.... It seems that there is a big divide between with and without. Either suits like me or jorts and nascar shirts like everyone else. Needless to say, I cut a very singular figure in this town. Suits are the deal!!! I swear. Not about being a southern gentleman at all because I dress way more like a Southern Italian than that. And yes the 'chicks', Italian or not..... follow close. Take note!!

i dont have the haircut to pull off the italian look. I look more like a politician or an FBI agent in a suit. if i grew my hair longer i would look dumb.

edit: expect for the face scruffyness. not to polician or FBI agent like

Most of my Italian friends that visit during Fashion Week are sporting really short haircuts anyway so, the idea of the slicked back hair thing is all over. It's way more about the fit of the clothes..

Check my profile pic. That's all you need to know!!

Buy suits and lot's of them....... to pay for my mod addiction!!!!
